The Grange Fair Pays Loving Tribute To Dorothy S. Delaney. "Our loss is Heaven's gain."
A book of memories is available to sign at headquarters during the Grange Fair.

August 10, 1918 - August 25, 2008
Dorothy "Dot" S. Delaney, 90, of Centre Hall, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Fairways at Brookline Village in State College. She was born August 10, 1918 in Jacksonville, a daughter of the late Mervin S. and S. Alice Harter Betz.

On Dec. 20, 1941 she married J. Thomas Delaney who preceded her in death March 30, 1998. Dorothy graduated from Howard High School in 1934 and later from Williamsport Beauty School, and for many years she ran a beauty shop in her home.

Mrs. Delaney was a caring, giving person who was always concerned with the welfare of others. She volunteered at Centre Crest for many years, providing all kinds of help to guests, from hairdressing, food for the picnics, being widely known for her angel food cakes, baked beans, baked corn and deviled eggs; as well as doing anything else she could do, to add to the quality of life of the guests. She also served as president of the Centre Crest Auxiliary.

One of her first loves was Grange Fair. She worked at headquarters from 1941 to 2006, tirelessly and passionately serving others in that capacity. Her voice could often be heard on the public address system, giving her cheery wake up call, or giving instructions or information that was helpful to attendees. Dot loved animals, especially sheep, and always diligently cared for and pampered her sheep. She was an active and helpful member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and an active member of Progress Grange, both in Centre Hall.

Eleven nieces and nephews survive her. In addition to her parents and husband, four brothers preceded her in death, Harold, Kenneth, Samuel and Fred Betz.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, Pa. Members of Progress Grange will provide honorary fraternal services at 7:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the funeral home, where the funeral service will follow at 10:30 a. m. with the Reverend S. Leigh Pick officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, P. O. Box 212, Centre Hall, PA 16828. or Home Nursing Agency, 3901 S. Atherton St. State College, PA 16801 or to Centre Crest Auxiliary, 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
